ROBBINS, ILLINOIS, SATURDAY, DECEMBER 4, 1954 '2nd Year—No. 45 FIRST TENANTS OCCUPY FLOWERS HOMES FRIDAY The Dedication The dedication ceremony was held last Sunday afternoon de spite the inclement weather that prevailed throughout the day. It was well attended by interested citizens and officials from Blue Island and Midlothian. Mr. Elbert (Zip) Johnson, Chairman of the Water Commit tee and master of ceremonies for the occasion, opened the series of talks with statements concerning the hard work and tireless'' effort involved in the getting the OK for the project for the village. Rev. George Wright made the dedication using a glass of water as the symbol. He .re marked, “One never outgrows water. It is the first requirement of a new born baby and the last request of a dying man.” Mayor Hendricks expressed his appreciation for all who labored for the final realization ► of the much needed service. Mayor Hart of Blue Island and Mayor Myland of Midlo thian both expressed their ap preciation for this service to Robbins and both extended their' cooperation to the village in any way they could be of service. Mr. Raymond Nelson, Execu tive Director of the Cook County Housing Authority also expressed his happiness and ap preciation with the others and a tribute was paid him by the Village officials for his advice and assistance to them in their efforts. Mr. Holland Hunt, rep resented the Engineer of the contractor and he took a bow on the speaker’s platform. The trustees were introduced by the President of the Village. Each spoke words of hope and they also cited the duties and responsibilities of the citizens in operation of the new system. The Superintendent of the water and sewer system was in troduced. He acknowledged his MRS. CARRIE CANTRELL (Story on page 3) responsibility as head of the system and he pledged whole hearted cooperation with the program. You are cordially invited to be present at the Homes at about 11:30 a.m. We anticipate that Mr. Hen dricks, Mayor of the Village, and Mr. Marion L. Smith, Commissioner of this Author ity, will be present, and sug gest it would be appropriate to take pictures at this time. We also plan an open house which members of the general public will be invited and have the opportunity to in spect a limited number of dwelling units in the Homes. This open house is planned for Tuesday, December 7, from about 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Very truly yours, Raymond E.
