“Fire Prevention Week” Starts Sunday, October 13th
The Blue Island police were
on routine patrol Sunday night,
October 6 about 11:30 p.m., when
they were bailed by a citizen
who reported that a gun shot
was heard nearby. They imme
diately investigated and found
two men struggling in Neldon’s
gun Shop at 12358 South Western
avenue. Coming closer the po
lice found them to be the owner
of the shop, Frank Neldon and
Carlos V. Lindsey, jr., 21, of
13635 Monticello ave., Robbins.
Lindsey, who had gained en
trance to the shop by breaking
a window, was surprised by the
owner Who grabbed Lindsey be
fore he could get out of the shop

Fire Prevention Week again
brought a special effort from the
Robbins Fire Department to ed
ucate the citizens of the village
in fire prevention.
Tuesday, October 8, at 2 p.m.,
the department had a program
in the main auditorium of the
new Southwest High School at
Crawford avenue and Midlo
thian Turnpike. Fireman James
Caphus gave a talk on fire pre
vention and three movies were
shown to the entire student
body. On the same day at 8:00
p.m. the program was held at
Thomas J. Kellar School at the
regular meeting of the PTA of
Kellar School. Two movies were

ground breaking ceremonies of
Good Shepherd Lutheran Church
