The OUTLOOK
By Pastor Stephens, Sr.
“THE VENERABLE
CHALLENGE”
Ain aujth'or monoplizling the
conversation with talk of his
accomplishments, was suddenly
Oqnsci^noe-sltril.’ken., “A thou
sand pardons!” he exclaimed to
a fellow guest. “Here I am talk
ing of nabady but my self. Now
let’s talk aibout YOU. What do
. you think of my new book?”.
There is no one so blind as
he who has two good eyes and
just won’t see.
The movement of this inter
lectural world to capture the
minds of men will not succeed.
The new concepts of men con
cerning the eternal things shall
not deplant the living Word.
Our hospital for the mentally
111 will continue to be filled and
over filled as men seek life
among dead things.
I will admit that there are
those who profit by the cunning
wit of their ability to decieve
men. And this is found in organ
ized Christianity and what we
call the worrld. But The Living
Word of God which “is the
power of God unto salvation to
those who believe”.
The power of the Living Word
in the lives of men; The living
testimony of the believers; the
pages of history captures the
minds of men with facts of the
power; and the culture it pro
duces is undeniably better, is
the venerable challenge to man.
I believe a man should search
for truth but there is a danger
of searching too long in the
wrong places. You can profit by
the errors of men who searched
in the area of the information
you seek. You can profit by the
admitted mistakes of men of
history, and go forward. But re
member the old prospector who
died and by him was written
these words, “just looking.”
The living Word reveals to us
who is the true God. We called
this revealed knoledge. All we
see around us is evident that
there is a Creator and we must
agree with the Psalmist who
says, “The fool hath said in his
heart that there is no God” His
power to give to his creatures
faith which comes from the
hearing of His Word, brings
peace, joy, love, and hope to the
believer so much so that He can
say; “I know of Whom I have
believed.” Is not this the vener
► able challenge. Now may the<
peace of God which passeth all
understandin keep your heart
and mind through Jesus Christ
our Lord.
