THE OUTLOOK By PASTOR STEPHENS THE INFLUENCE OF THE CHURCH Within the framework of a Christian culture there are many unexplainable situa tions. America proclaims to the world that she is the land of the free and the home of the brave. We parade before the eyes and ears of the world about our freedom of speech; free dom of th£ press and freedom of worship. We are all equal before God and have the right under God to enjoy all the privileges and responsibilities upon which these ideals rest. We cannot expect the bene fits of a democracy unless we are willing to undergird it with our time, talents and possessions. We must spend ourselve in the united action of. the preservation of the principles we cherish and hold so dear. The world has a right to look at the churlh today and evaaluate it in the light of what it sees within the frame work of her existence. The impact of the church upon a world, nation, state, city, village is seen in the men position of leadership stand on the teachings o the Holy Within the framework o f Stephens our Christian culture there are many who are ignorant power of the faith she poss esses. the wisdom of follow ing her instructions, and the real freedom found in her di rections. I want it clearly seen that that the wickedness in high places all over our country, which painted the pages of our metropolitan dailies in recent weeks are not the marks of men who have ac cepted the teachings of the Word of God though they be members of some Christian Church. The conduct of the men who have accepted the teachings of God is one of love, truth, kindness, peace, and all fairness. The demonstrations of race hatred, violence, bloodshed, and above all, ignorance, is undermining the foundations upon which rest our real se curity. You may ask why, and my answer may shock you, but it is none the less true. I tell you this in seriousness, and think carefully over the answer, though it is simple. We see—and the world sees— the kind of men and women in position of leadership, chosen by the people to rep resent them. Their actions and decisions will bear fruit. May the leadership in our Chris sian culture rise up and speak, reach and teach in the power of the Holy Ghost the blessed Word of God while the opportunity is still ours. The greatest influence in, the world today for good is the influence of the Church. And the Church of which we speak is made up of all be lievers in Christ, who by faith have accepted Him as their Saviour and Lord. “When the roll is called up yonder it will take a long time to get through the Smithy.” LEMON'S INSURANCE AGENCY 13736 CLAIRE BOULEVARD ROBBINS, ILLINOIS SPECIAL SERVICES LIGHT BILLS COLLECTED (No Extm Charge) GAS BILLS COLLECTED (No Extra Charge) INCOME TAX SERVICE NOTARY PUBLIC SERVICE LETTERS WRITTEN — BUSINESS and PERSONAL CONTRACTS, DEEDS, ETC.
