My only goal was to get the official assurance of the Finnish government before the American public opinion that it will, in the future, defy Hitlerism on the Jewish question. This ac tion on my part has received the approval of the President of the World Jewish Congress, Dr. Stephen S. Wise. May I add that the growing tension between the United States and Finland follow ing the Japanase celebration on the anniversary of Pearl Harbor took place after I received the Finnish statement. For those who know my Jewish activities, it is needless for me to emphasize that I am interested only in the victory of the United Nations and the sal vation of our people.” i SENATOR TAFT APOLOGIZES TO ANTI SEMITE WINROD FOR INDICTMENT New York (JPS)—Senator Rob ert Taft of Ohio has sent what is, in effect, an apology to anti- Semite Rev.
