Bear in mind, it has just celebrated its first anniversary, which makes it more admirable. Then, the fact that its member ship, comes from all of the above . mentioned places, which means a long drive for most of the too . numerous to mention, irr the past - year, makes me feel that, now, above all times, all Jews, can take a lesson from this group of wom en. Quotas for all drives means I nothing to them. I can safely ' that they have made and pass ed all quotas assigned them. Their most recent achievement, and to my way of thinking, since it was spontaneous, was outstanding. At their last regular meeting, held in Lakeland, Mrs. David Green berg, V. P., National Hadassah, was guest speaker and after her most enlightening talk, Mrs. Jay Zolotrofe, outgoing President THE SOUTHERN JEWISH WEEKLY thanked Mrs. Greenberg, and then made an appeal for contributions for Child Welfare. This as you know, is foV the support and main tenance of children sent to Pal estine. In less than 20 mnutes, the wives, and few husbands that attended pledged over SIBOO.OO. Bear in mind, this chapter has one of the smallest memberships, which makes such a response all the more outstanding. They have been very fortunate in having a leader, in Mrs. Zolo trofe, who never took “no” for an answer and no task was too small or too large, and she at all times inspired her members, as well as committee men or should I say, ladies, to more and more effort. As you well know, we poor husbands, first felt like martyrs, since we were in reality, mere chauffers, but now we have been struck with the same spark, and I think I can speak for all the husbands, when I say, we, also are very active irt their work. So you see, they must he doing a good job. My sole purpose of this letter is to let the ladies know their work is being watched and ap preciated, and a word of thanks to them from all of us may make their task a little easier. Also It may be an inspiration to others, in their work, in these trying times.
