LETTER BOX
Florida State Federation of
B’nai B’rith Lodges
1023 Seybold Building
Miami, Florida
September 28, 1948
Mr. Isadore Moscovitz
Southern Jewish Weekly
Jacksonville, Florida
Dear Iz:
As you know B’nai B’rith is in
creasing its activity daily in
line with its policy of serving our
people completely and at all times.
Our program at the present time
encompasses B’nai B’rith youth
work (there are 35 chapters in the
State of Florida); maintenance of
Hillel Foundations (at the present
time we have four on university
campuses in the State); Anti
defamation League work with full
time offices in Miami; National
program of aid to Israel; a district
program of assisting the Warm
Springs Foundation, etc. With
the new school year, we find that
our Hillel Foundations are being
taxed to the utmpst. Thousands
of new Jewish students have en
rolled. For example, the Univer
sity of Miami alone will have ap
proximately 3,000 Jewish students
on the campus.
Because of the great responsi
bility in undertaking these various
obligations, it is necessary that
each Lodge in the state not only
maintain its present membership
but go all out in securing new
members. We need the utmost
support physically and financially.
Since the work we are doing is
for the benefit of every Jewish
person, we are asking the cooper
ation of the Jewish people in join
ing our ranks immediately. I have
called a State Executive Commit
tee meeting for October 16-17th
in St. Petersburg, Florida, at the
