Meet in Atlanta, Ga.
Southeastern delegates of the Zionist Organisation of America
assembled on January 25th at the Mayfair Club in Atlanta to hear
an address by the National Membership Director, Hershel Auerbach,
who called upon Zionist leaders to awaken Southern Jewry to the
implications of the anti-Semitic and anti-Zionist policy that the
Soviets have now promulgated.
“As in the years prior to the
Jewish State, now too. moral in
dignation and American opinion
expressed by a vast tide of Zionist
affiliation, can show the Russians
that there are people who are
concerned with their unfortunate
victims.” he said. A resolution
was adopted by the Administra
tive Council in which they con
demned the actions of the present
Russian government in its treat
ment of Jews. The resolution

ving Abramowiiz reported that
membership was far ahead in
many districts, as compared with
last year. Cantor Abraham Mar
ton. President of the Jacksonville
District, reported that his group
was making every effort to sur
pass last year's membership en
rollment. Jacksonville also met
its 51.500 AZF quota.
Recent tours through Southern
communities by Joseph Saphir,
Israel's Minister of Communica
tions, Rabbi Usher Kirshblum,
National Membership Chairman,
and Regional President Robert
Perskv, have served to acceler
ate Zionist activity to an un
j unprecedented degree.
On the proposal to remove the
Regional Office to Miami, dele
gates voted to refer the robtion to
the next Regional convention.

first two delicate heart operations
performed at the recently organ
ized cardio-surgical unit at the
Hadassah Hospital here were an
nounced this week as completely
successful.
Officials of the hospital herald
ed the operation as opening up a
new phase of surgery in Israel.
Both.patients are progressing well
after operations for the removal
of tumors from the pericardium.
