Center Men's Club
Elects New Officeft

The Center Men’s Club held its
annual election Thursday evening
at the Center. The following offi
cers were elected: President,
Irwin Gendzier; Ist Vice-Presi
dent, Herbert Sandler; 2nd Vice-
President, Norman Moss; 3rd
Vice-President, Sheldon Gendzier;
4th Vice-President, Hymie Fial
kow; Treasurer, Sam Bryan; Sec
retary, Allie Goldstein; Member
ship Secretary, Ted Friedman,
and a board consisting of 25 mem
bers at large. Out-going President
Bill Goldberg congratulated the
newly-elected officers and board
members and expressed his very
bpst wishes.
A catered dinner was served
the membership.
On May 10th, Mother’s Day, the
Men’s Club will hold its Installa
tion of Officers Ceremony at the
Center. This affair is open to the
public for a nominal charge. A
nationally prominent speaker will
make the principle address. The
public is invited to attend. Reser
vations can be made by calling
the Center office.

delegates to the Twentieth Tri-Enniel Convention of the National
Council of Jewish Women held recently in Cleveland, Ohio. They
are shown displaying layettes for New Americans and Underprivi
leged Families made by the Sewing Group of the Jacksonville Sec
tion, NCJW. Each local organization was permitted one display
depicting a phase of Council’s work and the Sewing Group project
was the one selected to represent the local chapter.
The theme of this Convention was “Human Welfare Grows With
Freedom.”
The Honorable Thurman A. Arnold presented the winner of the
National Essay Contest entitled, “Speak Up—Freedom Needs Exer
cise.” •
Other outstanding addresses were made by Mrs. Edward W.
Macy, National President of the YWCA, and Mrs. Millicent C.
Mclntosh, President of Barnard College. This event was the 60th
anniversary of the NCJW and was attended by over 500 women.
NCJW’s Community Welfare of Jacksonville consists of the
Medical Loan Shelf, Golden Age Club, Hospital Ward parties at the
Naval Air Station, volunteer services in the Pediatric Ward at the
Duval Medical Center, Service to Foreign Born and the making
of layettes for the Underprivileged. International in scope is the
National Scholarship Fund for American Welfare Training of Over
seas Students brought to the U. S., and the maintenance of the
Hebrew Institute in Palestine.
