Seder Symbols and Customs
Seder Seder means order,
referring to the evening mzals on
,the first and second nights of
Passover. It is obligatory to tell
the story of the deliverance from
bondage on these two evenings.

Dr. Ciora Josephthal, Treasurer of the
Jewish Agency and head of its Absorp
tion Department, is credited with a
major role in Israel’s reception and
absorption of 750,000 refugees. He is
now guiding the ship-to-settlement pro
gram which during 1955 will channel
30,000 of the waiting 80,000 Jews from
tension-gripped North Africa into pro
ductive lives in Israel’s new farm com
munities. He arrived in the U.S. last
week to spur support for the United
Jewish Appeal, which finances much of
the settlement program. The 1955 na
tionwide UJA campaign seeks close to
1100,000,000 to aid nearly 500,000 men,
women and children in Israel, Europe,
Moslem lands and the United States.
