preserved Block No. 10, where he used to torture Jewish
girls in the process of his “scientific experiments.” His role
as a willing agent of Nazi criminals is admitted by himself,
even after his return to freedom. Sheer justice demands,
therefore, that he be brought to book.

However, those who have seen
him in action note that he appears
to be very happy in his role in the
sense that his work is a part of
the big game of basketball, and
after aIL Holman is Mr. Basket
ball.
The tremendous developments
that have taken place during Hol
man’s 35 years of coaching con
stitute a stirring chronicle of the
sport. Fans of the game will re
call the many, many highlights,
the big teams that have come and
gone, and some of the all-time
stars whose fame will stand for
years to come.
Holman himself v shared in a
good portion of these develop
ments, having built some of the
best teams in the country.*Also he
achieved distinction as a pioneer
in developing the basketball sport
in Israel, where he tutored on the
subject and helped prepare Israeli
teams.
The worst crisis in his career
came as a result of the basketball
scandals at City College. Holman
was suspended, but made a vigor
ous fight and got his job back
after being cleared of the charges.
While many felt that Holman
deserved criticism, there was a
widespread view that he was
being made the scapegoat, that as
long as City College was able to
reap benefits from the policy of
big time basketball and its in
herent -evils, it was OK; but when
the situation blew sky high it was
necessary to find someone on
whom to place the blame. .
At any rate, today Nat Holman
is doing the work he loves and
his 3Sth year of it.
