What better resolution can we of this community make at the beginning i
of this New Year than to resolve to build a better community?^To do thi^ ’i
every citizen must take an interest in his fellow citizens...
Our merchants, business and professional men for example, should dis- j
cover new and better ways to serve their customers and the people of the
community. Housewives should remember that every dollar spent away
from home helps some other community other than our own, so let them re
solve to make every possible purchase here so the money represented by
their purchases can go to work at horn.
To supply the things our country and this community so desperately need
we must have increased production. Our workers, therefore, can resolve to
give a full day's pay and arbitrate any difficulties they may have with em
ployers rather than resort to strikes and shut downs

Our farmers patriotically worked their land overtime during the war
order to produce all possible food stuffs. Little time could be spent in prob
lems of soil conservation and the development of better farming methods.
With the ending of the war, more time can now be devoted towards restor
ing the fertility of the soil and the application of better farming methods which
will benefit not only the farmer, but the whole community as well.
More interest in our schools, churches and civic clubs can be shown by
many of our citizens. These organizations play a most vital part not only in
the present social and cultural activities of our community, but in building
the character of the kind of community we are to have in the future. Let's all
resolve to take a greater interest and give more liberal support to these impor
tant character building organizations.
