Lieutenant Carr enlisted in the Army Air Corps on April 6, 1942 and was called last August 11 to be classified at Nashville, Tenn. He attended pre-flight school at San Antonio Field. Texas, and primary school at Coleman Field, Texas, where he was one of 17 men chosen to go to Randolph Field for basic training. He received advanced training at Moore Field, Mission, Texas, and transition training in P-40 pursuit planes. He received the expert gunnery medal for pursuit gunnery course at Matagrada Peninsula with an average of 45.08. Lieutenant Carr’s first flight while in primary training was on Friday 13 in airship No. 13; last flight in primary was in plane No. 13; first flight while in basic training in plane K-13; first flight while in advanced training in plane No. 313; and first flight in P-40 in plane No. 13. As a civilian, he was assistant manager of Branch Bank and Trust company at Wallace. He was married to Miss Miriam Weils of Wallace on April 3 in Edinburg, Texas. PROMOTED Claude M. Breeden, of Wilming ton, who is now stationed at Aber deen Proving Ground. Md., was recently promoted to the grade of corporal. He is the son of Mrs. M. P. Green announced today that the Illinois Coal Oper ators Association and United Mine Workers officals had agreed to enter into wage negotiations sep arate from the Appalachian con ferences now in progress in Wash ington.
