OPENS WEDNESDAY

The Lake Forest School gym
nasium opened Wednesday night
for the first time with the Air Re
gion military team occupying it for
the first period, 7 to 8:30 p. m.f
and Lake Forest residents using
it for the second period, 8:30 to
10 p. m., City Recreation Director
Jesse Reynolds announced Wednes
day.
The opening of the gymnasium
will supplement the existing pro
gram of activities at the Lake
Forest Community building, of
which Mrs. Joan Clancy is direc
tor James Kirkpatrick is gymna
sium director, Mr. Reynolds an
nounced.
Plans are also under way for
basket ball, volley ball, archery
and rifle gunnery. The rifle gun
nery has the approval of the Na
tional Rifle Association and the
War Department. The gymnasium
will be open Monday through Fri
day and when plans for dancing
have been completed it will also
be open Saturday nights. Shipyard
teams will use the gymnasium on
Tuesday and Thursday nights. Mili
’ary units now assigned to the
Lake Forest gymnasium will be
transferred to other school gym
nasium as soon as facilities are
available.
Director Reynolds also announc
ed that an after-school gymnasium
program for grammar school chi
dren will be inaugurated in the
near future.

A social dancing class for adults
meets each Tuesday from 7 to 9
p. m. A square dance was held

The playground is open every af

A tacky party is planned for
Thursday evening and everyone in
the Lake Forest area is invited to
attend. Prizes for the best cos
tumes will be awarded.
Plans for Friday nights include
parties and activities of special in
terest to teen-age groups, Mr. Rey
nolds said.
