Stevens, of Warsaw, serving on the bench, according to August L. Meyland, cleric of court. Court was recessed Monday on account of the absence of the jurist. This week’s court is expected to be highlighted tomorrow by trial of Luther McGill, Negro, 611 South Ninth street, charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill in connection with the slash ing of City Patrolman J. C. Wil liamson. The officer allegedly received a five-inch gash in his neck the night of September 30 at the hands of McGill, as Williamson was at tempting to make another arrest on a disorderly conduct charge. Williamson reported that he was attempting to make an arrest, when McGill approached him, de claring the arrest could not be made because he knew the man was ‘‘a good boy”. According to the officer, he warned McGill twice that it would be best for him to go away. Williamson said he tried to fight McGill off with his stick, and was thrown off balance and fell. When he arose, the first Negro, whom he had already arrested, had es caped. The policeman said McGill grabbed him around his neck and cut him. He tried to escape in a taxi, and when Williamson opened the taxi door, he said the Negro attempted to cut him again. It was at this time that the of ficer shot the Negro in the stomach, he reported. Even after McGill was wounded, he broke away and had to be chased through an alley, according to the police man’s statement. Forgery and bigamy cases are scheduled to constitute Friday’s court. The three murder trials, in which James Johnson, Jr., Richard Hen ry, and Williamson Atkinson, all Negroes, will be defendants, are scheduled on Thursday, November 16. -V First American Across Reich Line Is Killed PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 7.—IM— Lt.
