Geoffrey Crowther recently urged such a program before the Man chester (Englandi Statistical Soci ety This could be done, he claims, in a way not to hurt the banks, al hough I am not too sure of this. My own guess is that the ”E”, "F" and "G's" become due, a new system of refunding will be insti tuted which will save the Govern ment money and not necessarily turt anyone. For instance, matur ities up to a limited amount—say Sd.000—will be paid in cash. Larger holders can be given the option: — (1) oi accepting 2 1-2 per cent registered fifty year bonds — two per cent being retired by lot at par each year, it being understood that the Government shall not buy any in the open market under par; or (2) of accepting 1 per cent coupon ten year bonds which would have a free market and have some lay advantage. Along with such refunding, legis lation will be passed by Congress whereby insurance companies (and this now w'U be possible under the recent Supreme Court decision) wih be allowed to value such 2 1-2 bonds at par; and banks will be allowed to value the 1 bonds at par. — whatever either issue may le selling for in the open market. This program could result in cut ting the Federal interests costs about in half and ultimately in re tiring the bonds. ■Jot. fJhA As The Princeton Blew Up |" r i 4 terrifying moment is caught by a naval camera man as the powder magazines aboard the light carrier Princeton ex wreck the ship after she had been hit by Jap bombs during the Philippines Sea cattle. The science of Optometry has kept pace with the development of time. The methods of eye examina tion used only a few years ago. are now inadequate and obsolete. | VISUAL ABILITY I NOT VISUAL ACUITY The measurement of visual ability is no longer that of acuteness of vision. The ability to accomplish work with the eyes has come to be the accepted method of measuring one’s visual ability. OPTOMETRY'S ACCOMPLISHMENT Good vision in terms of what it takes to compete successfully with oth I ers, is not merely a matter of being able to see what you want to see 1 when you want to see it. Real efficient vision is the kind that enables | you to absorb and remember what you see. it _ ! l ! OPTOMETRY'S OBLIGATION TO THE PUBLIC To render and maintain for the patient that type and quality of vision needed in his or her daily tasks. This cannot always be done with, one simple and hurried examination and the prescribing of a simple pair of glasses. ¥ ¥ ¥ ¥ ¥ ¥ ¥ ¥ ¥ ¥ ¥ ¥ ¥ ¥ ¥ ¥ ¥ ¥ ¥ ¥ ¥ ¥ ¥ ¥ j Pancake Flour V: 10* l Kellogg’s All Bran • V°£ 11 * J Salad Dressing MOTHER'S Jar 33 * t Brown Sugar LIGHT Ctn. 7^ l Libby Olives Placed Queen Jar 22* j£ Colonial Milk ■ ■ ■ ■ 3 sa 26* J Dill Pickles um Qr 24* J Ritz Crackers % 24* * D.
