Dec. 12. — (.'Pi — The Senate completed legislative action today on a bill providing au thority for 'a $3,173,250,000 postwar highway program. It gave voice vote approval to a conference report adopted earlier in the day by the House under which the government would spend SI.673,250.000. the states $1,500. 000.000 ( over a three-vear period. The major part of the govern ment's money—$500,000,000 for each of three postwar years—would be matched on a 50-50 basis by the States. Of this amount. S225.000.000 a year would be available for ma ch ing for projects on the regular Federal-aid highway system. $150.-] 000.000 for secondary, feeder and farm-to-market road and $125,000. 000 for Federal-aid to highways entering cities. In addi.ion to the matching pro gram. the measure authorizes $173. 250.000 in Federal funds for park, forest and Indian reservation roads for the thfee years.
