The outlook for sustained hosti lities in Europe and the Far East, in addition to debt reduction and other factors, apparently spurred the carriers. Action of the I. C. C. in holding the door open on the reinstatement of suspended in creased freight rates also was help ful. Hopes for break-up benefits in capital disintegration of utility holding companies buoyed seteral issues in this field. Distillers were propped by earnings forecasts and the forthcoming January “holiday” in which civilian beverages will be manufactured. Many custom ers, though, held aloof on the idea the technical correction which got under way Tuesday might have considerable distance to go. -V NAVAL STORES SAVANNAH, Ga., Dec. 14.—'TP)— Turpentine 79 cents a gallon; of ferings, none; sales, none; re ceipts 38 barrels; shipments, 102 barrels; stocks, 24,944 barrels.
