Dr. Ira Asthuler, psychiatrist at the hospital, announced he was "encouraged” by the rendition of the Cadenza from Mozart’s con certo in D minor given by his charge, a 45-year-old musician, once said to have been well-known, who was committed to the hospi tal nearly ten years ago. Three recent events have done a lot toward bringing "Maeslra X” out of his mental illness, ac cording to the doctor, who de scribes the malady as "a form of negatvism.’> Two weeks ago he played for a convention of music teachers in Detroit, receiving acclaim that even included the word ‘‘genius.” Last week he attended a concert of the Detroit symphony orches tra, and for a time left off the low murmuring that has been a constant part of his illness, the doctor said. The radio broadcast last night was the third step, Dr. Altshuler declared. S. Dis trict Attorney had sought to prove a widespread and continuing con spiracy in legally dry Oklahoma to defraud the government of liquor tax. Last week a woman received a five-year sentence on a contempt citation for refusal to testify at the trial. Farmers Are Withholding Tested Lespedeza Seed RALEIGH, March 11—OJ.R)—The State College Extension service said Monday North Carolina farm, ers are withholding more than a million pounds of good quality lespedeza seed of the 1945 bumper crop from the market. The extension service warned that if the stocks are not moved soon, the farmers may eventually suffer losses. Lespedeza seed is valuable in soil building, as well as feed for farm animals, it was pointed out.
