A political fight over the va
cant city council seat of the late
Rav Pollock is looming between
Su nset Park and the city council.
According to Otto K. Pridgen,
chairman ol the Sunset Park com
mittee which nominated W. K.
Rhodes. Sunset Parik attorney,
to fill the vacant post, “one city
councilman has already said that
the council will not accept
Rhodes."
“We have a petition already
signed by more than 200 Sunset
Park citizens endorsing Rhodes
for the job,” Pridgen said yester
day. “We’re going to give the
city council the fight of it* life
It it doesn’t accept the selection
of Sunset Park citizen*.”
The fight, Pridgen indicated,
would consist mainly of a con
centrated effort to defeat the May
29 bond election.
“At our meeting Tuesday night,”
Pridgen said, “a Sunset Park citi
zen said he had $1,200 in the bank
as a start toward a fund to de*
feat the bond issue.”
i Rhodes, a World War II veteran
and possible candidate for com
mandership of the American Le
gion Post No. 10, was one of the
leaders against the annexation of
Sunset Park by the city.

test the shirt shortage.
"If all the white shirts were
taken out of haberdashery
windows,” said the spokesman,
Michael Bartlett, an ex-marine
“there would be enough for
all the veterans.”
When the men left they
covered their chests with
scarves, dickeys and sweaters.
