Merchants To Hear Green, Dr. Berolzheim er In Convention Two featured speakers have been announced for the annual meeting of the North Carolina Merchants association which will be held at Wrightsville Beach June 10 and 11. Willard L. Dowell, executive secretary of the organization, who made the announcement said that C. W. Green, New York City, and Dr. Howard Berolzheimer, Chi cago, will speak. 44th Annual Meet The event is the forty-fourth an nual convention of the association, and approximately 500 merchants from various cities and towns ol the state, have been invited to at tend. Green will use as his subject ‘‘State Modernization" and is con sidered an authority on his sub ject. He made special observa tions while serving as regional manager of the second United States region of the Committee for Economic Development and is now serving as secretary for the asso ciation. Dr. Berolzheimer is the chiel economist for the National Equal ity association. Boyd, traffic man ager of the Wilmington Port-Traf fic association, will depart earlj Sunday morning to defend Wil mington coal interests at a hearing on Tuesday before the Interstate Commerce commission in Ashe ville. The hearing results from com plaints filed with the commission by other cities in North Carolina and Georgia. Wilmington’s coal shipment rate, averaging 35 cents per ton less than in the other areas, is unfair, the complaints charge. Immediately after the complaints were lodged, Major Boyd drew up a mass of facts and figures ir defense of Wilmington’s favorable rates which he will present before the commission at Tuesday’s hear ing.
