So far nothing has been said as to the extent of the area they are in search of but indirect information is to the ef fect that they want quite a large tract or .tracts. Apart from this party another party from New York has been here and around Shallotte, search ing especially for blueberry land. For this crop a special type ol soil, known as “Hard pan”, is re quired. The hard pan, a reddish sand subsoil is' credited with af fording possibilities for irrigating the blueberries in addition to mois ture retaining features.
