Beach Grooming Quiz BY BETTY CLARKE How k your b.g.q. ) beach grooming quotient)? When a woman discards her girdle and bra and her slimming black dresses for a beach ensem ble, she can look like either a dream or a droop. Hours are spent selecting a bathing suit, but too often the choice is influenced by what a fa vorite movie star is wearing or what the salesgirl recommends or by some fad that can only flatter a model. If you are buxom, don’t attempt to wear the midriff suits or the bright shiny suits that your slim sisters wear so gracefully. It is embarrassing to see a woman whose roll of waistline fat dips over to form a fleshy border for her swim trunks. The midriff bra often is just an excuse to com plete the rest of the suit ensemble and in no way serves to cover her bosom completely. It seems strange that women who spend more money on their girdles than they do on then clothes will toss all attempt of concealment to the winds when they go beachwise. To add to the eonfusion are the numbers of would-be-glamor girls who sprawl legs and arms akim bo in unladylike fashion on pub lic beaches. Thgse same women are unhappy if there is a stray glance in the ditection of their calves when they are attired in street clothes. But on the beach they will spread themselves in ungiamorous poses, and as if a bra wasn’t little enough covering, will unbutton their straps to ex pose even more. Certainly to get a suntan On the beach and to get a smooth, even bronze, unmarked by straps, a beach basker can remove her straps from around her neck and tie them securely in back. The chubbiest girl can look sweet and attractive on a beach if she will take the trouble. Long hair can be braided and tied on lop with colorful bows; toenails can be pedicured to a briiiiani sheen and a colorful beach robe can be worn to make up for the dark plain swim suit which is the most flattering for the plump figure. Before any charmer hits the CHUBBY GIRLS . . . Should avoid midriff suits. beach she should make sure she has: 1. Defuzzed legs and arms. 2. A bathing suit designed on lines which will flatter her. 3. Remove callouses from feet elbows and heels. 4. Used a suntanning lotio*. 5. Polished toenails and Unger*, nails. ‘ __ *'« 1 Try cleaning spinach in warm, water.
