Mrs Robert Blake, nee Vera Diehl, who has spent the past few months with her mother, Mrs. Arthur Diehl at her seasonal home at Wrightsville Beach, left the end of this weeK for Cleveland, Ohio to visit her husband’s father, Mr. Blake. After spending a short while in Ohio, Vera with her father-in-law and a cousin, will tro to Wyoming where they will spend some time on a dude ranch and participate in the fall sport of Big Game Hunting. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond H. Laurence Sprunt are spending some time at the Homestead, Hot Springs, Va. after attending the marriage of their son, Kenneth M. Sprunt and M ss Betsy Long at Winston Salem on Sentember 20. F. H. Fechtig and daughter Miss Allie Morris Fechtig of 1310 Princess street are vaca tioning at Little Switzerland in the mountains of western North Carolina. They expect to return home for the winter in about two weeks, we hear. Friends of Miss Carrie K. Myers will learn with regret hat she is confined to her home at 510 Market street because of a slight illness. Her condition is act regarded as serious and she is recuperating rapidly. Mrs. P. R. Miss Macy Saunders, Archie Spires Wed Miss Macy Saunders, of Chad bourn, became the bride of Ar chie Franklin Spires, Jr., of Sumter, S. C., in a ceremony of simplicity and beauty Sunday September 14 at 1:15 o’clock in the Piney Forest Baptist church. The Rev. S. N. Lamb, pastor of the bride, officiated using the double-ring ceremony. The vows were spoken before an impro vised altar of palms, white glad ioli and chrysanthemums. Before the ceremony pre-nup tial music was played by Miss Margaret Goodman, pianist. Miss Sheila Sutton sang The Sweetest Story Ever Told. The bride and bridegroom en tered the church together to the tune of the wedding march from Lohengrin. For her wedding the bride chose a lovely fall model Soires, mother of the bride black accessories. Her corsage was a pink orchid, of medium blue crepe with bride, wore navy with black ac cessories and a shoulder cor sage of white tuberoses. Mrs. Mrs. Saunders, mother of the groom, wore black crepe with black accessories and her cor sage was of red rosebuds. Immediately following the ceremony the bride’s mother entertained at a buffet luncheon and cake cutting, for the bridal couple and -relatives at her home. Later tne couple left on a wedding trip through Georgia and Florida, after which they will reside in Sumter, S. C. Mrs. Spires is the youngest daughter of Mrs. James Arthur Saunders, Sr. and the late Mr. Saunders of Chadbourn.
