Soviet Scentists Turn Quicksand Into Stone LONDON —Soviet scientists after long research have succe eded in converting quicksand into solid foundations for build ings or preventing its formation under existing buildings, Radio Moscow ‘reports. The method consists of intro ducing under pressure two solu tions — the so - called “liquid glass” and calcium chloride — into the sand.
