(Continued from Page One) Black admonished his Congrega tion, “Do not wait until the hearse' carries you to Church.” During this notable two-week revival, many outstanding events took place. Among them was a meeting on May 1st, that was also j attended by white guests. That night, pastor Black's sermon, “The Wedding in the Clouds”, was both stirring and unique. Husbands and wives, together with engaged cou pies, were requested to sit togeth er. Another impressive event of the revival was a climaxing baptismal service . . . one of the most in spiring in the history of the Church. It was held at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 3rd; and at that time, St. Luther Baptist Church witnessed the baptism of lfi candi dates. All church members were happy and grateful to have their pastor conduct his own revival. They have been singularly blessed by the ef ficient guidance of this Divinely inspired man, who, for four years, has extended his influence into Southern states, associations meet ings. He said the Elks home in Mo- 1 hile, Ala., was a thing of magnifi- 1 cenee, and that there were other fine homes in other Southern cities. Grand Exalted Ruler Johnson said that this year’s first prize winning speech in the Elks oratori cal contest will he personally de livered in bound copy to President Eisenhower in Washington. Grand Commissioner of Education George W. Lee ot Memphis also announc ed that Congressman B. Carroll Reece (Rep., Tenn.) had agreed to have the winning oration in serted into the Congressional Rec ord. many lives and has brought peace with the promise of salvation to many hearts and souls. This great man, the Reveroni Fred B. Black, gives himself with out hesitation to many causes. He is an educated, cultured, and Chris tian gentleman whose forward leadership has brought a harvest of much good to St. Luther Mis sionary Baptist Church. Under his guidance, the Church has made remarkable progress. It is completely out of debt; and plans are being made to purchase adjoining land for the purpose of rebuilding into a larger, more mod ern. and fully equipped church dedicated to the Service of the Lord. Rev'. Black has kindled within his Congregation, the living spark of courage and, confidence that will bring to pass this almost super human task of renovation. Indeed, he himself exemplifies the three qualities that he has repeatedly impressed upon his loyal followers as being necessary to bring into full realization, these rebuilding plans. The three needed steps are: to spend much time in prayer, to have unwavering faith, and to be filled with the Hlov Spirit. St. Luther Missionary Baptist Church will never cease to be grate ful that its pastor, Reverend Fred B. Black, is a great man who prac tices these virtues in his daily life. And the recent two-week revival which counted many souls for the Kingdom, was a further mani festation of Rev. Black’s tireless devotion in the service of God, anti Stop By Plutes Auto Beauty Parlor Other reports indicate that "e Specialize In Negro Elkdom has been busy, Dl EFING AND SIMONIZING albeit not publicity-wise.
