Alvin Wadman called at the Han ilton place in southern Sand Lake on Sunday. Seth Person skidded up logs for a bam for Ole Pearson of Max, Tues day and Wednesday. E. S. Dahlberg walked to Jessie Lake Saturday and visited his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Dahlberg, returning Sunday. Having experienced a severe win ter, we fully expected an early spring but it seems not. The weath erman seems to have forgotten us. County Commissioner C. M. King, together with Mrs. King and Engi neer O. J. Lidberg, autoed through this locality Saturday, being out to inspect roads. The wanagan on Sand lake was al most destroyed in the big storm of a week ago and the boom broke, scat tering all the logs, about 3,000,000 feet, over the lakes and down the river. It is learned that three horses and a cow were killed by falling tim ber during this storm in Sand Lake. MARBLE Rev. W. E. Ellis was a Nashwauk visitor Friday. Mrs. D. M. Vermilyea spent Satur day in Hibbing. Mrs. Forest Dockeray was a Cole raine visitor Friday. Mrs. J. P. Caldwell and baby son returned from Duluth Saturday. J. F. Carson and Miss Vida Williams attended the dance at Coleraine Sat urday evening. Mr. and Mrs. John Larson, Mrs. H. L. Van Horn and Miss Violet Van Horn motored to Coleraine Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. D. Butler were Du luth visitors the early part of the week, returning home in their new Willys-Knight car. Mrs. John Davis, Mrs. A. Jonnum, Mrs. Clifford Brown and Mrs. J. H. Bush went to Bovey Thursday even ing to see “Damaged Goods,” at the threater there. The home talent play “The Dutch Detective” given Wednesday evening at Nashwauk for the benefit of the Nashwauk M. John Milland quit -work as engineer at the local mill Thursday evening as he intends leaving today. Aimer Meland and Katie Sandnes were pleasant callers at the Birch Park farm Friday evening. Word was received from Deer River the past week that J. J. Johnson was sick with inflamatory rheumatism. Edward Norbo has taken the en gine job at the local mill in place of John Meland, starting work Friday. The state veterinary took dinner at the D. Danielson home Sunday and in the afternoon drove on to Good Hope. Esther, Mildred and Elgert Bodier spent Sunday afternoon and evening playing with Clars and Julia Bloom quist. Mrs. C. 0. Peterson and daughter, Florence, called at the Alvwood mill Thursday afternoon to see it in opera tion for the first time. Edward Nelson has brought his family back to his homestead in Moose Park from Minneapolis. He expects to remain here now. Anna Moran and Muriel Stapleton enjoyed the picnic last Sunday given on the shore of Island lake by the P. P. Q. lodge from Northome. Alma Sandnes and Bert Stonefield report a swell time at the dance given last Saturday evening by Al Bondy in the new house on Dixon lake. Alma Sandnes returned to her home in Good Hope Thursday after spend ing a week and a half at the Alvwood saw mill assisting her sister, Katie, with the house work during the ab sence of Mrs. Emil Johnson. The Alvwood school of the Silver Star club will give an entertainment to parents and friends May 30th, in the afternoon. Everybody is invited. TERMS OF SALE Fifteen per cent of the purchase price is payable to the county treasurer at the time of sale. The unpaid balance is payable at any time in whole or in part on or before forty years from the date of sale at an interest rate of four per cent per annum, due on June first of each year; provided, that the inter est can be paid at any time within the interest year without penalty. In ef fect, this means that the interest money may be paid any time between June first and May thirty-first with out penalty. Appraised value of timber, when so stated, must be paid for in full at the time of sale. All mineral rights are reserved to the state by the laws of the state. All lands are sold subject to any and all ditch taxes thereon. Lands on which the interest has be come delinquent may be redeemed at any time up to the hour of sale, or be fore resale, to the actual purchaser. Such lands are listed under the cap tion: “Delinquent Lands.” No person can purchase more than 320 acres of land as provided by the General Laws 1905; provided, however, that state lands purchased previous to 1905 is not charged against such pur chaser. Agents acting for purchasers must furnish affidavit of authority. Appraisers’ reports showing quality and kind of soil are on file in this office.
