All the business pla eos were closed during the after nooh, and the bosses, their clerks and other employees, took to loi tering around, and in other ways enjoying themselves, some visiting the churches, others going to the "dear departed", whilst a number remained at home, there to enjoy peaceful quietude and a contented fireside. At night, the Christmas trees, one at the Catholic and the other at the Episcopal Church, were visited by a perfect thbong of little ones and their parents and friends, and enjoyed with much delight. Many a little girl and boy's heart leaped forth with joy at the presents handed them from off the branches, and many were the exclamations brought forth thereat. The day has gone -all will remember it as one pleasantly spent--ad the recollections of it are fondly im bedded in the minds of more than oii of our readers, -WE acknowledge the receipt of complimentary tickets to attend the Grand Holiday Bazar, which takes place to-night at the. The killing and the circumstances which led thereto have previously been given in these columns, hence no reason exists why we should again review the matter. By his able counsel in defense of young Gaspard Mr. Hunter has won for himself an enviable reputation as a jurist, and. nunst be. classed among the higher class of criminal law yers. Holt, The circumstances con nected with the affair are so conflict ing at the present time, that we will await a legal investigation of the affair before laying the facts before our readers. The parties wounded are-Jos. Holt, shot in the left hand, just below the wrist; Jas. S. Davis, shot in the left arm, below the elbow; and B. H. Keyser, shot in the right shoulder. The first two are the main participants in the affair, and were engaged in a strug gle when the latter, (Mr. Keyser) tried to seperate them. Mr Key ser's is merely a slight wound and will amount to nothing. A too fiee use of whisky, coupled with the carrying of the ready revolver, is the main reason of this affair, and which, luckily, resulted not seious ly. Let us hope that these things be'put down, for surely no good can come from either. Married: ix this Town, on Tneslday, Decem ber 23d, 1884. by the Itev. Herman C.
