W. s Dudley & Co., judgment of the Court a qua affirmed, Plaintiffs to pay costs of appeal. r Yale & Bowling vs. Leander B. - Haworth4 et als ; judgment reversed -the plaintiffs to have judgment against defendant, Jeannette Ros enthal, wife of Jonas Rosenthal for $350 with interest from first day of December 1883 until paid, and for $14.30 costs of protest, also to pay costs in both Courts. Jas. A. Renahaw vs. S. A. and hfrs. A. C. Dowty; judgment of the lower Court affirmed at appel lant's cost; rehearing refused. John F. Kelly vs. New Orleans &,Pacific Railroad Co., judgment reversed, and plaintiff to pay costs of both Courts. Mrs. Elise Schmalinski vs. F. Seip, President Police Jury. On motion of Counsel for Appellant and Apellee, in open Court, it was agreed that this case be taken un der advisement by the Court, and their decision therein shall be ren dered at the February term, 1886. -THE last issue of the Shreve port Chief contains a notice refer ring to the pardoning of one Lewel lyn Townsend (colored) convicted of assault and battery at the recent term of the District Court at that place. His assault consisted of the knocking down and kicking on the public streets ot Shreveport, of a woman who was in a critical condi tion. The Chief protests against the pardoning of this negro, adding that he is a bad character and has been much trouble to the officials there. We say, by way of close, that the Board besore who his case will come, ought not to even think of turning loose such a beast in hu man form. It is by far better that he should be caged, away from his fellow man, for such as he deserve not to be treated kindly, or in a manner common to civilization. -PROF. Evans, late of Robeline, where he taught school all during 1 the past session, is here in Alexan dria for the purpose of locating with his family, and opening on the 1st of September, provided he can se- t cure enough pupils, a first-class high school for bovs. He comes well recommended ifrom various sources, c which speaks largely in his favor. r We ask our friehds to help him, for he is about to inaugurate that which r has been long needed in our midst.
