IS HE FAT?
One of the most remarkable cases
of 'sdden 'cure of disease, was that
of a rheumatic individual, and with
which is connected a very amusing
ghost story. T'here was a couple of
men, in'some old settled part of the
country, who were in the habit of
stealing sheep, and robbing church
yards of the burial clothes of the
dead. There was a public road
leading by a meeting house where
there was a graveyard, and not far
off was a :tavern,

door to wait for his -companion to
A man on foot, passing along
the road toward the tavern, took
him 'to be a ghost, and alarmed al
most'to death, -ran as fast as his feet

which he reached ont of breath.
As *oon ,as be 'could speak. he de
clared that he bad seen a ghost
robed in white, siitting in the door
of the church. But nobody wuould
believe his story.
He then declared that if any of
them would go bank, they might
be 'convinced. But incredulous as
they all were no one could befounda
who had courageenough 'to go. At
length a man who.was so afflioted.
with the rheumatism that he could
not walk declared that hewouldgb
with htn if he could only walk o.r

to tarry him on his back, and toos
him up and off they went. When
they got in sightb'sure enough it was
as he had said.

This .was enough: The tIan

"Fat or lean yoit may have him."
And dropping the invalid, he
traveled back to the tavern as fast
as bit feet could Carry him. But
he had scarcely arrived there, when
