Another very important one is the Ad

WOODEN WEDDING.--On Monday,
Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Marsh, celebrated
in a becoming way (a sumptuous din
ner and a dance) their wooden wedding,
the fifth anniversay of ther married
lives. Friends and relatives of the
happy twain were present to congrat
ulate them upon the pleasant consum
mation of the first half decade of their
connubial felicity, and to wish them
God-speed onward through all the
thronging years that the future, may
twine about their united pathways. A
great number of presents, embracing
different varieties, and all made of
wood, to be in character with the occa
-ion were bestowed upon Mr. & Mrs.
Marsh by their numerous friends.
Some of them were useful, others or
namental, many unique, but all valo
able to the recipients in that they
spoke in silent, silvern meaning, the
golden wishes of the donors. The
happy couple have passed peacefully
over the five years that are now among
the dead chronicles of time, and they
can look back into the faded pages of
the vanished years with thankfulness
to their Maker, and with gratitude to
their kind. Sorrow has come to them
only to make their joys shine out more
resplendently by the foil of contrast.
May the future have in store for them
oily the golden leaflets of the past
without its bonrgeon of sadness and
weary days, is the wish of the DEMO
CRAT. May the pledges of pure afftco
tion which hlave clustered around their
hearthstone grow up into manhood and
womanhood, giving joy and consola
tion to the hearts from which they
sprung, and while adorning and pleas
urine their associates, fill with pride
and pence the bosoms of their rela
ald fie-uds.

IN MEMORIAM.
Fannie Bell Weaver, born in Shreveport,
La., January 29th, 1882; died in New Or
leans, La., January 2, 1886.
A rare bud bloomed in the garden of life,
As sweet as from Heaven e'er came'
The pride of a father, the joy of a wite,
And Fannie Bell dear was its name.
With fragrance it grew in the soft nightair
And ope'd its petals at break of day,
But ere it had blossomedjt eve so fair,
The chilling frest came,lt withered away.
But weep not. oh mother and father so sad,
That Our Father has ta'en the babe whom
we love,
But rather rejoice and with Him be glad,
that He's called herback to heav'n above
For the angel band in the heavenly field,
Where His choicest and rarest blossom
grows,
Would even the sweetest of lilies yield,
But they could part with the rose.
Too pure and innocent for earth's wicked
wile,
She has gone on before to brighten the
way.
For papa and mama to follow their child,
And sing with her His praises forever
and aye.
