Birdie Strauss, the cigar anujk fng gentleman of Auto-Litg^ jg looked up to as the top pin Appier in the loop with an averagq of 200 tight on the nose. He a.go ieftds the league in the 600 serje8 chart, accumulating six of tljPse scores Mnd has thirteen 200 frames listed on his ledger to lead that depart ment as well. Adding information as to their pin spilling, we hav-e n0 ]eS8 than five men with ekVen 200 games each to their satisfaction. Not to be outdone by other top leagues we hav$ a couple of 300 bowlers in our -midst. Matt Sobb, the lengthy bey bowling with the Klopping teafn grooved his 12 strikes for bis 300 at the Pal-a Drome alleys jn 1941, jim Bate man, who Jlaces his name on the National Supply team line-up, is the other joO sharpshooter, getting his in IS37, .1 the same night. Although Jim Bateman has a 300 game to his credit, that did not prevent him from joining the se lect list of the fish club. He owns up to 488. Joe Kardos, the silent boy from Acklin, also is a member with his 452. Maybe Jake Powell thought we would forget him, but here it is—481. The name of Clarence (Thunder bolt) will be ound on the Spicer |team line-up. Larry Threm, who Hoes his pin spilling with the Spicer Unit team, was on the verge of a 700 series when a tough break stopped it. He was unfortunate to get a split in the last frame. His score of that night, a 696, is tops in this loop at the present time.
