Playground Supervisors Hold Fifth Annual Dance The • fifth annual supervisors’ dance held last night at Lakewood Park was met with great success and was one of the most highly entertaining affairs of the current summer season. The music for the ■lancing was furnished by Jack Fitzgerald and his very popular city of Waterbury orchestra. Be tween dances Theresa Cagney en tertained with many-aohy-numbers About seventy couples attended the dance of which William Der wtn, assistant supervisor of recrea tion was honorary chairman. He was assisted by general chairman. Royal Arcanum Club To Attend Clam Bake Members and friends of the Koyal Arcanum club will attend a clambake to be given by the state grand council at Uhlert's Grove in Yalesvllle on Sunday, September 8th., Plans for the Mattatuck Council's participation in the va rious events will be made at a meeting to be held at Mechanic’s hall on next Monday night. The affair is to be stag, featur ing the customary athletic events. Gus Wollschlager of this city will act as cateret while William Briggs, also of this city is chair man of the sports committee. Participants in the annual na tional convention of the United National Association of Post Office Clerks, Edgar D. Dwyer and Oscar Staffstrom of this city will return here tomorrow from Gettysburg, Pa., scene of this year’s convention. The two Waterbufy men played an active part in the convention pro ceedings. * Dwyer represented .the state clerks’ association, of which he is past president, while Staffstrom at tended in his capacity as official delegate from the local- chapter Of the national organization.
