The ode was composed by Herbert in 1918 at the time the German tide was being turned back for the final time. The selection was chosen both for its historical parallel and the fact, a few months ago a KMH lis tener, Robert Bartlett of New York City, made the suggestion. It was later learned Mr. Bartlett’s wife is Victor Herbert’s daughter. The musical performance of “God Shall Guide Us” will mark its debut over the airwaves.
