She is also a member of the provisional committee, and for some time has been an advisor and active member of the young women's group at the Y. M. C. A. Committee Plans Series Of Dances Hie Youth Recreation Commit tee, a branch of th« Civilian De fense office, will sponsor a series of dances every Saturday night at the Armory, the first of which will be held Saturday, April 21, with the Junior League of Waterbury in charge. Music will be provided from 8 to 11:30 p. m. by Joseph Lamattino's orchestra. Mayor John S. Monagan will be a guest at the dance. Mrs. E. Parsons Speaks To Group Mrs. Edwin W. Parsons, chair man of the national committee on women's work of the Women’s Am erican Baptist Foreign Mission so ciety, addressed members of the First Baptist Church women at a meeting yesterday afternoon in the church. Mrs. Anson Stone intro duced the speaker, who stressed the need for younger women in the foreign mission field. Hostesses for the meeting were Mrs. Nelson J. Holcomb, Mrs. Charles R. Hine and Mrs. Charles E. Andrews. Couple Wed In Naugatuck Miss Ruth L. Townsend, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry W. Townsend, Naugatuck, and Robert Ranslow, Fl-c, U. S. N. R., son of Mrs. Clifford Ranslow, Citizens avenue, were married Monday aft ernoon at 2 o’clock at St. Paul's Lutheran church, Naugatuck. The ceremony was performed by Rev erend O. H. Bertram. The bride was attired in a dusty rose wool suit, a matching flower hat and a corsage of orchids. Miss Gertrude Townsend, as her sister s maid of honor, wore her cadet nurse uniform. A reception for guests from New Haven, New York, Hamden, Waterbury and Wolcott, followed in the church parlors. Mrs. Townsend received in a blue flowered crepe dress, matching ac cessories and a corsage of garde nias. The bridegroom’s mother also wore gardenias with her pink ensemble. Following a wedding trip to New York city, Mr. and Mrs. Ranslow will reside in Portsmouth, N. H. where the bridegroom is stationed The bride traveled in a burgundy, costume. She is a graduate of Naugatuck high school and her husband in an alumnus of Leav enworth high school. Florio Post To Hold Annual Dance Florio Post, Italian War Veterans, completed plans for the second an nual benefit dance to be held Satur day evening at 8 o’clock at a meet ing last night at the post hall, Bank street. Servicemen in uniform will be admitted free of chareg, it was announced by Eustachio Schlappa chairman of the de*'.ce. The post and its auxiliary donated cigarettes and flowers to patients and Newington Hospital last Friday. Approximately 2.000 cans of milk and soup were donated to the Waterbury committee, Relief for Italy drive, i* was reported. Mary Teresa Kelly, a student at Waterbury Catholic high school, is recuperating at her home, West wood avenue, following an opera tion at St. Mary's hospital. She la the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mi chael F. Kelly. Local Man Wed In California The wedding of Miss Virginia Ab bott, daughter of Mr. and Mr%. Wil liam Abbott, Bridgeport, and George Clanciolo, EM 2-c, U. S. Coast Guard, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Cianciolo, .Beecher avenue, took place March 14 at 4:30 p. m. at St. Anthony's church, Long Beach, Calif. The bride wore a three-piece yel low and black suit, black accessor ies and a corsage of orchids. Mrs. David Cianciolo, cousin of the bridegroom, who was the bride's only attendant, was attired in black crepe, fuchsia accessories and a cor sage of roses. Anthony Cianciolo was his brother's best man. Mr. and Mrs. Cianciolo traveled to Glendale for their wedding trip. The bride, who is a graduate of Central High school, has been em ployed in the office of Remington Rand, Inc., and is returning shortly to Bridgeport. The bridegroom is a graduate of CTOsby High school. Births Mr. and Mrs. Lester J. Brooks, Unity street, announce the birth of their second son, Christopher, on Tuesday, April 3, at Waterbury hos pital. Mrs. Brooks is the former Yolanda Calabrese, Harper's Perry road. Whist Follows Conseil Meeting A Monte Carlo whist party was held following the regular business meeting of the Conseil Villa Maria Monday evening at the Franco American Social club. Members of the entertainment committee were in charge. High scorers were Miss Yvette LaVallee, Mrs. Lucille Thibault, Mrs. Delia Grace, Mrs. Alexina La Vallee. Mrs. Beatrice Allard and Miss Cecile Frechette. Mrs. Lydia Bouley was low scorer. Miss Fre chette, chairman of the entertain ment committee, announced that a bingo party will be given following the May meeting of the lodge. Ladies*Aid To Hold Supper The Ladies Aid Society of the Third Congregational church met at the home of Mrs. B. W. Erk of Chipman street, yesterday after noon. Plans were completed for a spring supper to be held sometime in May, the date of which will be announc ed. Mrs. Robert Jones of Chipman street, extension, is chairman of the event. Mrs. Henry Tooker is chairman of a dessert bridge and food sale to be held by the Ladies’ Aid on April 18 at 1:30 p. m. in the par ish hall.
