PALMER in its pub lication, it will in future he conducted by them jointly, and published weekly as heretofore. The Reporter will be especially devot ed to the advocacy and promulgation of sound democratic doctrines, and will aim to secure harmony of sentiment, and con cert of action among the Democracy, throughout our Territory, or prospective State. The importance to our party of a straight forward, fearless, spirited and effi cient champion ofilg cause, located at the Capital, must be apparent to all, and can not be toe glrongly urged upon the con sideration of our friends. More especial ly is such an organ demanded at the pres ent crisis, when Iowa is about to cast OFFJ the parental authority ol the Getieral Gov-] eminent, and take rank with her sister The various departments of Literature, Agriculture, Foreign, Domestic, Political and Miscellaneous news, will each re ceive its due share of attention. By a change in our publication day, which was made a few weeks since, so as to take ad vant.ge of the arrival and departure of ihe mails, we are now enabled to lay the Re jioiter before our readers, replete with all the interesting items ol current news tive and amusing the grave and (lie gay —we will adinii nothing in our columns,' but that which is ol the nnst unexception- able character in its moral tone and ten- dency. Our lilc-ary and miscellaneous selections shall be in consonance with the most correct and refined taste, and such as will.exert a purifjirg ?nd an elevating influence upon public sentiment. Though our first bject is, to render the most efficient service to the cause of De mocracy and equal rights, yet we are de termined, also, to identify the Reporter with the general ir.terests and advance ment of the new, but t'ertile, thriving and promising Territory of Iowa and to con tribute, in no small degree, to the pros perity and happiness of its citizens.
