Some sixty or seventy miles north of CouDcil Itlurt's in the county of Mo nona, about fifteen miles from the Mis souri liiver, there is a town containing six or eight hundred inhabitants, 2?n crally Luown as Preparation. This town is tbe /ion of a new body of religions enthnsiacts who call them selves "Conjeprezitos" and their system of religion or religious organization •the Coujeprezioii" the meaning of which terms, remains to the Gentile world a profound mystery. At the head of the organization is a man by name Charles li. Thompson, who is besides the editor of a weekly newspaper called the Xews f* Messen ger. This paper ia large, well printed and upon political and general subjects is edited with much ability. Of this sheet one or two pages are usually devoted to the publication of what are called "open letters" upon rebgious subjects, addressed by Charles B. Thompson, as follows: "Tux Cimt A IN-TOI.U' OKIJCAL K-rUtia*tu%al ASTOR AKI K steward, or stewards who shall account un to thee for the uae thereof aa thou abalt di rect, and who ahall pay over into thv han all aoaef tfeat shall come tato their hanoa during tile time of their stewardship*, aud thou abalt u*» it as 1 ahall romibaiid thee, and tltoa •ha1' porches* land other places as 1 shall direct thee, and shall tea^h my Some doubt, may however very justly exist as to the honesty of tbe leaders and «f the "Chief Apostolic Bishop." The character of the resolution which we copy, above, and the fact that the stewards and assitant stewards are thereby directed "to account" for the use of the land and property of the organization as the "Chief Apos tolical Bishop" "shall direct," and to "pay over into his hands all money" etc., is not at all calculated to remove any curious speculations as to whether tho "Chief Apostolical Bishop" is de ceived, as well as his Hock. However strange it may appear, this organiza tion has during the past year rapidly increased from fifty to eight hundred inem'icra and is still receiving very large accessions to its members. The same number of the News Messenger, from which we have made extract*, contains a statement that "re cent apostates from the conjeprezion, who still reside in that place, have formed a band of regulators, consisting of about one hundred men, secretly or ganized for the purpose of visiting the city of Preparation on or about the fir«t of October, and by force and vio lence compel the citizens to do what they choose to dictate." The very natural result, aM revela tion" to The Chief Apostolic Bishop Charles B. Thompson, by the voice of Baneeuiy,"of the fact that the regu lators are to be destroyed and utterly annihilated. These letters are all dated at "the tower of the Hock" and arc most culi ons specimens of incomprehensible cant being made up of passages from the Bible, oxtracts from "the Book of the Law and Covenant of Israel" and remarks by the "Chief Apostolical Pastor" indiscriminately mixed np to geilier. From what we are able to learn, from these letters, this carious sect bc lievoa in the Bible aa the word of (iod but also holds that it is in a measure done away with, by new revelations made since the year 1848 by 4ihe voice' of "Banecmy" through the medium of the "Chief Apostolical Bishop." These new revelations are styled Mtho Law and Covenants of Israel." The follow ing is a specimen of the will of God lately revealed. "R EVKLATHM.—The word of the Lord came unto C'hmM. H. EAT OF ONONA O.—We learn that the people of Monona Co., had yesterday at tbe election brought before them the question ot' a removal of the County seat from Onawa to Belvidcre. It is not our province to middle with local matters of other counties but from what we know of the geography of Monona Co, the seat of justice is bound sooner or later, to go to Belvidere. It has a charming, sightly and salubrious location, between the junction of two fine streams with timber aud fine w» ter, and many other advantages, be sides being near the center of tho county, Mr. «esdiwend of Bur lington waa very seriously injured by a runaway on Saturday last. SlIOOTINU 1'l"ATI. IN Bl RLIXOTOK.— The Burlington Hawktye mentions in a deprecating manner an unfortunate propensity which is exhibited by the youth of that city, viz: that of shoot ing ijuail in the streets. The existence of wild game thus plentifully in the streets speaks well for the prosperity of Burlington. The J/ttwkvye in con nection with the subject, says We think it would be advisable to have some of the paternal overseers of these juvenile Nimrods accidently punched in the pantaloons with a few shot. Such a fortunate misadventure wouid, we opine, have a tendency to chcck the pcrigi inations about town of the little hungry ones who have a weakness for quail suppers. Col NTKRFKITlNU ClTV SCRIL*. Burlington ttnrt be in a bad way, when ita youth spend their time in shooting quails in the streets, and its rogues are obliged to resort to counter feiting shin plasters, worth, fifty cents on the dollar, for a living. THE R. R. MOVEMENT.—'The Jasper Co. Free Press in speaking of the Rail Road movement in Davenport says:— The activity and energy of the peo ple of Muscatine lately, has exci ted the people of Davenport. They have suddenly realized that 'Davenport is in danger.' Cities north and south •re pushing their roads through, cut ting off her trade, and ahe all the while lying idle. It ia his intention to ac quire a collegiate education, and for that purpose he is endeavoring to raise funds by collections wherever he preaches. THE CAMFLR.—Forty-nine of the camels belonging to the United States arc now at Camp Verde, sixty miles from San Antonio. Only one ot those imported has died, wbi'e ten have been added by birth. These young American bom camels thrive well, and promise to grow up in all respects equal to those imported. Notwith standing the trial lately made by Cap tain Beale in his explorations across '.he continent, there are some officers of the army who doubt whether any thing ia to be gained by the uae of camels, Tlie llaldee. The following are the facts regarding the case of tho Slaver Haidoe, about which eo much excitement exists in New York. The account is from a New York paper. Some three weekn ago, l'nit«d States Mur«litil Kynders received information that uvesae! hud been sunk off Moritauk Point under suspicious circumstance. He imme diiitely stnt one »f bin deputies, Mr. l': An geiia, to inquire into the nutter. Ie An K'lia shortly returned, hearing information that the vei^tl had been scuttled, the erew bud ^one to different part* of the country, uiid th»t one of them had died of the Afri citn level, and was buried at New London. I pon this information Marsha1 Kynders eeiit Maurice o'Keele and Th«*od Kyn dws, twi of his deputies, in search of the crew of the vessel. They were not long in finding out that three of the men were in this city. These men were arrested early last week and imprisoned. The fact of their arrest win kept a fcc-ret, «o lint tho*P: till at hirpe would not bo put on their guard. Frum one of the prisoner* 'he names of those en gagt in tho expedition wer learned, and rom further informal.on from the same source, and upon consultation with Mr. Theodore Sad wick, the 1'uited States l»is trict Attorney. Marshal Kynders concluded to aeiid the deputies, O'Keefe and Hynders, to Hos'on in search of the remainder of the crew. Arriving there, they found two of them, whom they arrested and placed in the temporary custody of the proper au thorities. 'l'iie officers then proeeded to New Tled ford, tieur which place they arrested the ehiet mate, who had command of the ves sel when .die was scuttled. Ilis name is Macoiubar. They found him at his house neni New lie-'ford, arrested him and brought hiin to the city. They then returned to njston, where they fell In with e»me exceedingly disinter e.vt$ persons, who irade themselves very sociable in one way and another.till I'Keefe and the younger Kynders, he?an to "smell a rat." Their suspicions were right, for they learned shortly afterwards that these gentlemen were friends tho slavers, and had even ohtuined a wrii of htbeax corpus to serve upon thetn, for the purpose of hav ing the prisoners brought up. Bat the New York officers were too sharp lor the iiostonian gentlemen. A hack waa pro cured aud the deputies and their prisoners jumped in. John crucked his whip ami off they tlew to the railroad station, which they reached just in time to take the ears for New York, successfully escaping tho service of the writ upon them, and with it possibly, a great deal of time and trontde. They arrived early on Sunday morning and at one proceeded to Marshal llyoder'* resi dence in Henry street, woke him up from a s uitid sleep, and recounted their adventures to him, at thd same exhibiting the threo prisoners whom they had along with them. Th»- Marshal ordered tliem to be locked up in Eldridge Street Jail forthwith to await examination. We learned, however, that the nam* of the vessel ir "Haidee, of New York," in stead of "Klisaneth of New Orleans," as was stated a few days ago in the newspipers.— This discrepancy is accounted for in the fact that they railed a piece of ennvas ou the stern, upon which Aas painted, in large letters, "Elizabeth of New Orleans." It appetirfa that the Haidee was fitted out at Uiis port eevral months ago, and sailed to the coast of Africa, where she took in a cargo of 900 slaves. She then sailed for Cu ba, and were landed at Cardenas. At that place the captain left the vessel, and the first mate then took the command. They took on board, as appears by the testimony of one of the seaman, 1134 ne groes and landed about 900 alive. The ex amination of the parties connected with the transaction is now progressing ia New York. •SOO Crales or Crockery* WhoUaaU and AelaU.
