In our issue of hunday last, it will be remembered, that we co ied a short •ottco from a Burlington paper in re gard to the O*kalo»sa Railroad conven tion, to the efleet that tli conventioti had adjourned without doing anything. The convention, as wo have previously Informed our readers, was called by Certain enemies of the Mississippi and Missouri Railroad Company for the purpose of diverting the promised aid project with avidity and each determ ined in its own mind that its road should be that "other road,1' and both places were consequently enthusiastic in favor of the road and furious at any one who dared to laugh at them. A body composed of such Conflicting elements, each determined U it could not carry out its own point to defeat the plans of the others, it may be imagined, was not particularly un- •tiimoua or harmonious in ita action. The countics represented were the fol lowing Lee, DesMoines, Yan Huren, Jefferson, Wapello, Mahaska, Keokuk, Muscatine, Johnson, Marion, Powe shiek, Polk, Tama, Jilackhawk, and the whole number ot votes allowed to be cast was two hundred and seventy.
