In Virginia there are three cases, name ly :—Natural and incurable incompe tency at the time of marriage, idiocy and bigamy. In Alabama, adultery or two years' abandonment. In l{hode Island, impotency, adnitery, extreme cruelty, wilful desertion for the space of five years, continued dmnkeness, neglect of the husband to provide necessaries for the subsistence of the wife, gross mislehavior and wicked ness repugnant to the marriage con tract. In New Jersey, divorce is grant ed for prior existing marriage, adulte ry, and wilful absence for five years.— In Vermont, for non age, mental in capacity, impotency, force or fraud, adultery, confinement in the State pris on for three years or more, intolerable severity, wilful desertion for three years, absence for seven years unheard of, aud where the husband, being of ability, grossly and wantonly neglects providing for his wife. In Maine, for adultery, impotency, desertion for five years, joining the Shakere for five years, confinement in the State prison of any of the United States for five years, fraud in obtaining the consent of the other party, habitual drunkeness for three years a marriage with an Indian or mulatto is void, and impris onmeut for felony ia the State, works a divorce without any judicial pro ceedings. In the Strteof Kentucky, for habit ual drunkeness, condemnation for felo ny, cruelty of the husband, and for several other causes which we forbear to irkMion. In Illinois, for impoten cv, i ialtory, wilful desertion for two yearr, conviction of an infamous crime, habitual drunkeness for two years, cruel treatment endangering life, intolera ble indignities, vagrancy of the hus band. In Iowa, the same causes exist as in Missouri, to which is superadded, "when the parties cannot live in peace and happiness, and their welfare re quires a separation." The law of Ar kansas is the same as in Missouri, ex cept that one year's absence is suffi cient to free the abandoned party from tbe bonds of marriage. In Tennessee and Mississippi, the law is nearly simi lar while in Florida, to like enactments are added habitual indulgence of vio lent and uugoyeruable temper for one year, or drunkness for one year. In North Carolina, impotency, adultery, abandonment, turt.ing the wife out oif doors, cruelty or indignity on the part of the husband, or any other just cause. In Texas, impotency, cxcess, or cruel treatment, or outrages, or desertion for three years the husband may have a divorce for the adultery of the wife, and the wife when the husband aban dons her and lives in adultery. In Maryland, the law is the Bauie as in New York, except that abandonment and three year's absence from the State is a cause of divorce. In Geor gia, the old cclesiastical law governs. In New Hampshire and Ohio, similar laws to those of Vermont prevail. Ex treme cruelty and absence for three years are causes for divorce in Dela ware, to which Pennsylvania haa ad ded intolerable indignities. Congress has never confered tbe power to grant divorces upon tho Courts of the Dis trict of Columbia. Br. Towards evening tbe weather became stormy, the rain foiling heavi lv, and the wind Wooing with great fierceness A large number of per sons, nevertheless, assembled to visit the exhibition, tbe quadrangle being well filled. By half-paat eight the wind had increased almost to a hurri cane, and the site on which the cara vana stood being considerably elevated, it had great power there. These, in their fall, carried with them the can vass roof, which, in its descent, extin ished the lamps by which the exhi bition had been illuminated. A terri ble scene ensued. The spectators, who bad been listening to tbe description of the keeper, were gathered around the vans that fell. Those nearest the vans perceived thatthey were toppling over, and pressed back upon the per sons behind them. The crowd, how ever was so great, that before they could escape, the vans had reached abe ground, barying beneath them many of those who had been in the front ranks. The shrieks of the people were ming led with the yells of the animals. Tha place was wholly in darkness, and for a few moments the utmost confusiou pre vailed. Immediate efforts, however, were made to rescue those who were lying beneath the vans. Ropes were obtained, and in a short time the vans were raised sufficiently high to admit of the extraction of ihe unfortunate sufferers. Four were taken out dead, and twelve dangerously wounded. In the consternation caused by the acci dent, it was at first rumored that some of the beasts bad escaped but this was not the case. The animals in the over turned caravaus were lions, tigers, leop ards and bears, aud these seemed to have been greatly terrified by the up se .ting.
