Big fleet of transports seen making for
Gulf of Liao Tung to join forces that
disembarking at Zudder bay.

Chefoo, March 5 ? Six Japanese cruisers and ten transports were sighted yesterday
steaming in the direction of the Gulf of Liao Tung. The movement has been connected
with the reported intention to effect a landing in Zudder bay. It is said that owing to
the heavy weather it is difficult for the disembarkation to proceed.
A land battle is expected at any moment.
Zudder bay is nouth and west of Port Arthur, and not so close to that town as So
ciety hay where several unsuccessful attempts have been made to make a landing.
RUSSIA WILL BE LOOKED AFTER

London, March 5 ? It is understood that in the event of Japanese successes in Man
churia steps will be taken to guard against any possible chance of Russia again assuming
a dominant attitude in that portion of China.
JAPANESE LANDING- TROOPS AT CHINAMPO

Paris, March 5 ? Information from official sources in Korea confirms previous re
ports to tlie effect that Chinampo is now free from 1*e. The Japanese have accordingly
ceased debarking troops at Chemulpo and have taken advantage of the opening of Chi
nampo to land troaps there, thus expediating the forward movement of the troops.
