Story Accounts for Marquis Ito's Visit
to Seoul

St. Petersburg, March 22. ? The Norvoe Veremga published prominently this morn
ing a Paris dispatch, declaring it is believed that a triple alliance consisting of China, Ja
pan and Korea has been formed. This is said to have been the great object of Marquis
Ito's visit to Seoul. The visit has just been completed, and more that marked friendship
was exhibited toward him.
RUSSIA FIGHTING BATTLE FOR CIVILIZATION

St. Petersburg, March 22. ? In speaking of the news of an Alliance of China, Ja
pan and Korea, an attache of the naval office says:
"If all the nations were as familiar with the Mongol and his ways as is Russia, the
triple alliance of the yellow people just reported from Paris, would excite dire alarm. It
s for the protection of the people of the earth as well as for herself that Russia declares
low that she cannot, will not, be defeated in this contest with Japan.
"Once Russia withdraws her strong arm from the east and the yellow people will
se u|>on all the nations of the earth in earnest."

is nderstood it will proceed to New Chwang just as soon as the ice shall have cleared
awa.

and Government Sends Ship to Search for
Her? Wreckage Plentiful

uneasiness la felt here (or the steamship
Tees, four days overdue at Victoria
from Cape Scott. The Dominion cruiser
Quadra, has been dispatch to search for
her.
Wreckage Is plentiful in the vicinity
of Barclay sound, but it is believed
that the is Tees stormbound somewhere
along the coast.
Wreckage is also found In quantities
near Cape Beale. It indicstes the loss
of the British ship Lamoma which left
Tatoosh outbound March 1.
Queen City Alio Misting

anxiety is felt on account of the steam
er Queen City, which left Victoria for
points on the west coast of Vancouver
island and northern inlets. She Is now
five days overdue. The government
ship Quadra will also search for her.
