It is believed that this order will cause all the Canadian goods that go to Dawson to come through Skagway and over the W. P. & Y. U. What this means to the transportation lines operating in Southeastern Alaskan waters and using the Skagway route to the interior may be fully understood when It is consider ed that from May 1 to October 31 last year, 6460 tons of Canadian goods were shipped from Vancouver to Dawson via St. Michael in American vessels. The only fear expressed by American steamship men, whose ioterosts are contined to the Southeastern route, is that the Canadian government might attempt to apply the same rule to the traffic between Vancouver and Skag way, and thus shut American boats out of the Canadian traffic on this route.
