Russian officials have given out the statement that a part of Russia's plans are to draw the Japanese armies into the interior of Manchuria before giving fight. They say that to fight the Japanese on the coast where they would have the ad vantage of communicating with their ; base of supplies would give that nation j the best of the argument and it is not ^ a part of the Russian plans to do that. Once in the interior the two armies would be on an equal footing, as far as aid by sea is concerned, while the Rus sian forces would have the benefit of an established railway to the rear. Anderson, mission ary in Alaska, to restore to the church 1232,000, which it is alleged was taken from a mine developed with church funds while Anderson was in the min istry. The church also claims the White Star Mining Company, of Alas ka, owes it $26,000 in the same connec tion. ' The demooratic J state convention which completed its labors last night, instructed the delega- \ tion from the Empire state to the na tional convention to support Judge Alton B Parker, for the democratic : presidential nomination. There was ' no fight over the matter at all. The convention was harmonious, each of the three factions being represented on the delegation. The actioo of the democratic conven tion at Albany is believed to practically insure the nomination of Judge Parker by the democrats. It is believed that he will receive the support of all the conservative democrats in the country, aside from a few votes in the New Eng land states, which will be given to Richard Olney on the first ballot. All factions of the New York demo cratic party, including Tammany, are pleased with the result of the state con vention.
