Port Townsead, June 7 Two soldiers
were killed a?.d three seriously injured
by an accident during target practice
at Fort Casey yesterday. An eight
I inch gun blew out its breech block and
the fragments cut down the gun crew.

plosion at Independence Station on the
Florence and Cripple creek railway in 1

people and injured nine fatally. All
were miners. A stick of dynamite was
laid under the station platform and set
off by the incoming train. Detectives1
are working on the case. The Militia
has been ordered out andjtrouble is ex
pected.

Clancy, saloon men and gamblers, have
given Seattle up as a bail job and are
preparing to leave for the Tanana.

Way In Thibet

London, June 7? Telegraphic advices
from Smlla say the British expedition
to Thibet has captured two four pound
ers and a Lhassa general reported killed.
The Thibetans refused to forward the
letter of Col. Younghusband, fixing the
latest date at which the British are
prepared to meet and negotiate with
the Thibetan delegation at Gyangtse
before advancing on Lhassa. Ac ord
ingly, Vounghusband has caused it to
be made known the time limit which
he has set, hoping this word would
reach Lhassa indirectly. After that
lime there will be no treating except
by capitulation.

It is probable that no boat will sail
for Atlin again until Friday. James
Lipscombo, the W. P. & Y. R. agent at
Atlin, who wen* over on the Gleaner
last week, wires that Atlin lake is still
solid, and the Gleaner is being held at
Taku to accommodate the passengers.
It is not believed in this city that she
will return to Caribou in time to sail
before Friday.

rumored that thfr Russian Port Arthur
squadron had made a sortie shortly be
fore dawn Saturday. The Russiui de
stroyer Kendalg fouod the Japanese
unsuspecting the presence of hostile
warships and the result was the sink
ing of four Japanese ships.

are current that another great battle is
in progress near Port Arthur. A con

south.

was aged 27. During his life time he

Atlin, June ".?The Gleaner arrived
at Taku Thursday night and found At
lin lake solid.
J. H. Brooks, the packer, and one
man, got across to Atlin by going up
the lake 10 miles. Yesterday the south
end of the lake was open but the Scotia
is still icebound in winter quarters,
rhe Gleaner is being held at Taku to
iccommodate the passenger?, whom
they started seeding over the lake in
small boats yesterday.
