Other Pt-rforimnces Tha howlers at the Elks' club have bagun making records that will com pare favorably with those at alleys which have been long in existence and where the players have had a great deal of practice. The record at the present time is held by F. C. Klaharty, 1 who made a score of 227 last night. He is followed for the first place by Burt Thomas with a score of 1S9. Mr. Flah arty made seven "strikes" in succession. There seems to be some doubt among the bowlers at Skagway as to what i9 a good record. Tha highest individual scores made last year on a regulation alley for a record were by W. Cordes, Brooklyn: B. Stell, Chicago; and E Koedel, New York. Kach of these made the possible, 300. The highest average in a tournament for a record on a regulation alley was made by J. Voorheis, of Brooklyn, who averaged 233 in a series of 27 games. The record for a tive men team is held by the Sylvanus alley, Brooklyn, which made 1152. The same record was made by the Kmpires, of Chicago, but it was made with loaded ball, which is not recognised in the east. The Grand Centrals, of Brooklyn, hold the three-men team record, 734. WILL SELL Research Taken Iuto CVrop Ky Officials The British steamer Research, which cleared (or Dawson from St. Michael, was seized after making the trip up the Koyukuk in search of the probably mythical Mitlas creek ami will be sold at auction by I'nited States customs of ficials. The Research is charged with violat ing th ? revenue laws of the United States It is not believed that she was seized by the passengers as it was said that she would be. That story, it is thought, was promulgated for the pro tection of the steamer's owners. The fact that the Research also had passen gers for the I'pper Koyukuk and deliv ered them within a few miles of Bet tles^io t tkeo to indicate that she sailed for the deliberate purpose of doing business between American ports in violation of the law. She has been scheduled to get into port tomorrow, but the a?rent at this place does no', look for the vessel before Friday.
