The armies are engaged in a general battle of gigantic proportions tetween Mukden and Liaoyang. Oyama lias met the advance of Kuropatkin with his en ire army and the greatest battle of the war is now beiug fiercely fought. The Russian force which was sent accross the Taitse river has been cut off by the apanese and it will be slaughtered. Tokyo, Oct. 13 ? Reports received last night from Oyama say the battle with Kuro patkin lias been waging with uninterrupted fierceness day and night since the Russians ttacked Siencheng. An effort by Kuropatkin to cut off the Japanese communications ,-itli the Yalu river has been repulsed. Mukden, Oct. 13 ? The conflict is raging along the entire front. The Japanese are tubbornly resisting the attacks of Kuropatkin and he is making little headway. The 'jvanca has been checked and the battle is still in progress. Hospital trains are arriving >aded with the Russian wounded. A dressing station has been erected on the depot plat >rm where a corps of physicians and an army of nurses are engaged in caring tor those ho have been sent from the bloody field. ACCOUNT FROM ST. PETERSBURG St. Petersburg. Oct 13 ? The correspondents have located the Russian and Japanese ?niies. They are engaged in a deadly struggle for mastery. The battle which has been iging since the 10th is of far g^erter proportions than has been supposed. The fighting is been characterized by desperation. The positions of the opposing forces have been instantly changing and the losses have been very heavy on both sides. The scene of the conflict is generally accepted as beihg north and east of Liaoyang i the plains on the right bank of the Taitse river. The brunt of the fighting is being ceived by the troops north of the Yentai mines where the Russians have 50,000 men en iged at close fighting.
