DANCE WAS ODEAT SUCCESS The annual Sourdough dance given last night by the Artie Brotherhood was successful in every respect. About forty couples- were present, practically all in sourdough costumes, the hall was decorated in a manner befitting the occasion, the music was good, and all present enjoyed them selves thoroughly. ?Indue H. It. LePevre sang his cele brated Siwash song and several reci tations were given. The music was furnished by George Patrick. Will lilanchard and Monte Snow. A min iture log cabin erected within A. B. hall made the sourdough Illusion real istic. Souvenirs were given to all present. The Jefferson of the Alaska Steam ship company arrived in Skagway at 6:10 o'clock yesterday morning with 2G passengers. 100 tons of freight and ::i horses and left at exactly noon yesterday with 10 passengers and *'> | tons of freight. The Jefferson had a smooth trip all the way up with the exception of one ! night when she struck a heavy head wind and was compelled to proceed in a blinding snow storm. The Hamshaw party brought four horses, a boiler and saw mill with a capacity of 6.000 feet of lumber a day and other supplies with them. They intend to do hydraulic milling on a big scale this season and expeet ri . Ii profits.
