gas-heati\g system that
NEEDS NO FURNACE
A new gas-heating system for
houses is designated not only to
produce practically complete com
bustion of gas, but to discharge the
products of combustion through an
exhaust pipe Into the outer air after
thet heat has been extracted. Each
individual radiator in the system is
operated as a unit, but all the ra
diators are connected to one exhaust
pipe through which the gases are
drawn by an exhaust fan. The gas
enters through an inlet valve, which
automatically adjusts itself for
variations in pressure, and passes
to a burner at the middle of the
radiator, where it burns in a partial
vacuum, just enought air being
sucked in through the burner to in
sure complete combustion. This
method of combustion is said to
result in the hottest gas flame
known. The gases produced by
combustion then pass through the
coils of the radiator. During this
process most of the heat is radiated
into the room through the walls of
the radiator coils, while the gases
are drawn on into the exhaust pipe
and discharged. Pictures of the
apparatus are published in the
October Popular Mechanics Maga
zine.
