Droop the prond banner be bravely defended, Boom the loud gun for the noble life ended. Bright silken pennant shall float o’er the main, His the wild wind shall kiss—never again. Say not, O mourner, his life is fled; His day hath ended,he is no more; “Say,” saith the Master, he is not dead, He eleepeth, he is but gone before. Gone to the home which he longed for above, Tasting the bliss of ineffable love. — Hie was a lift so brave and true, Generous alike to friend and foe, Ever alert some good to do; One whom to love was only to know. The Kidneys are two in number, situated at the upper part of the loin, surrounded by fat, and con sisting ol three parts, viz: the Anterior, the Interi or, and the Exterior. Ti»e anterior absorbs. Interior consists of tissues or veins, which serve as a deposit for the urine and convey it to the exterior. The exterior is a con ductor also, terminating in a single tube, and called the Ureter. The ureters are connected with the bladder. The bladder is composed of various coverings or tissues, divided into parts, viz: the Upper, the Lower, the Nervous, and the Mucous. The upper expel?, the lower retains. Many have a desire to inmate without the ability; others urinate without the ability to retain. This frequently occurs in children." To cure these affections, we must bring into ac tion the muscles, w hich are engaged in their vari ous functions. If they are neglected, Gravel or Dropsy may ensue. The reader must also be made aware, that who ever slight may be the attack, it is sure to affect the bodily health and mental powers, as our flesh and blood are supi*»rted from these sources. Got T, OR Kh hum at ism.—Pain occurring in the loui*> is indicative of the above diseases. They oc cur in persons disposed to acid stomach and chalky concretions. The Gravel.—The gravel ensues from neglect or improper treatment of the kidneys. The?e or gan* oeing weak, the water is not expelled from the bladder, but allowed to remain; it becomes fever ish, and sediment forms. It is from this deposit dial the stone is formed, and gravel ensues. It was always highly recommended by the late Dr. Physick, in these affections. This medicine increases the power of digestion and excites the absorbents into nealthy exercise by which the watery or calcareous depositions, and all unnatural enlargements, as well as pain and in flammation, are reduced, and it is taken by men women, and cbildreu. Directions for use and diel accompany. Philadelphia, Penn., Feb. 25,18«7. II. T. 11 elm hold, Druggist—Dear Sir: I have been a sufferer for upwards of twenty years witl gravel, bladder and kidney affections, during which time I have used various medicinal preparations and been under the treatment of the mo&t emiueui phTsieians, experiencing but little relief. Having seen your preparations extensively ad vertlsed, I consulted my family physical! in regard to using your Extract Buchu. I did this because I bad used all kinds of ndver lised remedies and hud found them worthless, am: some quite injurious; in fact, I despaired of evei fretting well, and determined to use no remediei lercafter unless I knew of the ingredients. It whi this that prompted me to use your remedy. As yoi advertised that it was composed of buchu, cubebt and juniper berries, it occurred to me and my phys ician as an excellent combination; und with his ad vice, alter an examination of the article and con suiting again with the druggist, I concluded to try it. J commenced to use it about eight months ago, at w hich time 1 w as confined to my room. From the first bottle I w as ustonished at the ben eficial effect, and alter using it three weeks was able to w alk out. I felt much like w riting to you a lull I'ta.teinent of my ca*e ut the time, but thought my improvement might only be temporary, and therefore concluded to defer, and see It it’w’ould effect a perfect cure, know ing then it would be ol greater value to you ami more satisfactory' to me. 1 am now able to report that a cure is effected, alter using the remedy for five months. I have not used any now for three months, and leel as well in all respects as 1 ever did. Your Buchu being devoid of any unpleasant taste and odor, a nice tonic and invigorator of the syoteni, i do not mean to be without it whenever occasion may require its use in such affections. M. I I ADDRESS l To the Nervous and Debilitated, | Whose stifforinKH hare ben protracted from hid j den causes, and whose cases require prompt treat , nieut to render existence desirable: li you are suf ' fering, or have suffered, from involuntary dip j charges, what effect does it produce upon your ! general health? Do you feel weak, debilitated, easily tired? Does a little extra exertion produce palpitation of the heart? Does your liver, or urin ary organs, or your kidneys, frequently get out of order? Is your urine sometimes thick, milky or flocky, oris it ropy on settling? Or does a thick skuni rice to the top ? Or is a sediment at the bot tom after it has stood awhile ? Do you have spells of short breathing or dyspepsia ? Are your bowels constipated? Do you have spells of fainting, or | rushes of blood to the head? Is your memory im paired ? Is your mind constantly dwelling on this subject? Do you feel dull, listless, moping, tired of company, of life ? Do you wish to be left alone, to get away from everybody ? Does any little thing make you start or jump? Is your sleep broken or restless? Is the lustre* of your eye as brilliant? I The bloom on your cheek as bright ? I)o you en- j joy yourself in society as well ? Do you pursue your business with the same energy ? Do you feel its much confidence in yourself ? Are your spirits j dull and flagging, given to fits of melancholy? 1 f} so, do not lay it to your liver or dyspepsia. Have you restless nights ? Your back weak, your knees : weak, and have but little appetite, ami you attrib ute this to dyspepsia or liver-complaint ? Now, reader, qelf-abuse, venereal diseases badly cured, and sexual excesses, are all capable of pro ducing a weakness of the generative organs. The organs of generation, when in perfect health, make I thi man. Did you ever think that those bold, de fiant, energetic, persevering, successful business men are always those whose generative organs are in perfect health ? Yon never hear such men com plain of being melancholy, of nervousness, ot pal pitation of the heart. They are never afraid they cannot succeed in business ; they don't become sad and discouraged; they are always polite and pleas ant in the company of ladies, and look you and them rightin the face—none of your downcast looks or any other meanness about them. I do not mean those Who keep the organs inflated by running to excess. These will not only ruin their constitutions, but also those they do business with or for. How many men’, from badly cured diseases, from the effects of self-abuse and excesses, hrve brought about that state of weakness in those organs that has reduced the general system so much as to in duce almost every other disease—idiocy, lunacy, paralysis, spinal affections, suicide, and almost effcry other form of disease which humanity is heir to, and the real cause of the trouble scarcely ever suspected, and have doctored for all but the right one. Diseases of these organs require the use of a Diu retic. HELMBOLD’S FLUID EXTRACT BUCIIU is the great Diuretic, and is a certain cure for dis eases of the Bladder, Kidneys, Gravel, Dropsy, Or ganic Weakness. Female Complaints, General De bility, and all diseases of the Urinary Organs, whether existing in Male or Female, from whatever cause originating, and no matter of how long stand ing. If no treatment is submitted to, Consumption or Insanity may ensue. Our flesh and blood are sup ported from these sources, and the health and happiness, and thnt of Posterity, depends upon prompt use of a reliable remedy. Allow me to call your attention to my PREPAR ATION OF COMPOUND EXTRACT BUCIIU. The component parts are BL’CHU, Long Leaf, CTBEBS, JUNIPER BERRIES. Mode of Preparation.—Buchu, in vacuo. Juniper Berries, by distillation, to form a fine gin Cubebs extracted by displacment with spirits ob tained from Juniper Berries; very little sugar is used, and a small proportion of spirit. It is more palatable than any now in use. Buchu, as prepared by Druggists, is of a dark color. It is a plant that emits its fragrance; the action of aflame destroys this (its active principle), leaving a dark and glutinous decoction. Mine is the color ot ingredients. The Buchu in fey prepar ation predominates; the smallest quantity of the other ingredients are added, to prevent fermenta tion; upon inspection, it w ill be found not to be a Tincture, as made in Pharmacopoea, nor is it a Syrup—and therefore can be used in cases w here fever or inflammation exists. In this, you have the knowledge of the ingredients and the mode of pre paration. Hoping that you will favor it with a trial, aud that upon inspection it will meet w ith your appro bation. With a feeling of confidence, I am, very respectfully, H. T. HELMBOLD. Chemist and Druggist of 10 Years’ Experience.
