The Kidneys are two In number, situated at the upper part of the loin, surrounded by fat. and con sisting of three parts, viz: tiie Anterior, the interi or, and the Exterior. The anterior absorbs. Interior consists of tissues or veins, which serve as a deposit for the urine and convey it to the exterior. The exterior is a con ductor also, terminating in a siugle tube, and called tiie Ureter. Tiie ureters are connected with the bladder. The bladder is composed of various coverings or tisaues, divided into parts, vuc: the Upper, the Lower, tiie Nervous, and the Mucous. The upper expels, the lower retains. Many have a desire to urinate without the ability; others urinate without tiie ability to retain. This frequently occurs in children.’ To cure these affections, we must bring into ac tion the muscles, which are engaged in their vari ous functions. If they are neglected, Gravel or Dropsy may ensue. The reader must also l»e made aw are, that who ever slight may bo the attack, it is sure to affect the bodily health and mental powers, as our flesh and blood are supported from these sources. The Gravel.—The gravel ensues from neglect or improper treatment of the kidneys. These or gan- being w eak, the water is not expelled from tiie bladder, but allowed to remain ; it becomes fever ish, and sediment form*. It is from this deposit that the stone is formed, and gravel ensues. l)K*>i*&T is a collection of water in some parts of the l ody, and bears different names, according to the parts affected, viz.: when generally diffused over the body, it is called Anasarca; when of the abdomen, Ascites; when of the chest, Hydrotho rax Treatment— lleimbold’a highly concentrated compound Extract Itnrhu is decidedly one «-f tiie be-t remedies for diseases of the bladder, kidneys, gravel, dropsical swellings, rheumatism, and gouty , affection*. Hklmbold, Druggist—Dear Sir: I have been a sufferer for*upwards of twenty years with gravel, bladder and kidney affections, during w hich lime 1 have used various medicinal preparations, and been under the treatment of the most eminent physicians, experiencing but little relief. Having seen your preparations extensively ad vertised, I consulted my family pbysican in regard to using vour Extract Buchu. 1 did this because 1 had used all kinds of adver lined remedies and had found them w orthless, ami some quite injurious; in fact, I despaired of evei getting well, and determined to use no remedies hereafter unless I knew of the ingredients. Jt war this that prompted me to use your remedy. As you advertised that it was composed of buchu, rubebc and juniper berries, it occurred to me and my uhys iciun as an excellent combination ; and witli tils ad vice, after an examination of the article and con sulting again with the druggist. I concluded to try it. 1 commenced to use it about eight months ago, at which tune I w as confined to my room. From the first bottle I was astonished at the ben eficial effect, and alter using it three wveks was able to walk out. I felt much like w riting to you a full statement of iny case at the time, but thought my improvement might only be temporary, and therefore concluded to defer, and see it it would effect a perfect cure, knowing then it would be ol greater value to you and more satisfactory to me. I am now able to report that a cure is effected, niter using the remedy for five months. J have not used any now for three months, and leel as well in all respects as 1 ever did. Your Buchu being devoid of any unpleasunt taste and odor, a nice tonic and in vigorator of the system. I do not mean to be without it whenever occasion may requiit; its use in such affections. M. Is your urine sometimes thick, milky or flocky, oris it ropy on settling? Or does a thick ski mi rise to the* top ? Or Is a sediment at the bot tom after it has stood awhile? Do yon have spells of short breathing or dyspepsia ? Are your bowels constipated ? Do you have spells of fainting, or rushes «»f blood to the head ? Is your memory im paired ? Vour back weak, your knees Weak, and have but little appetite, and you attrib ute this to dyspepsia or liver-complaint ? Now, reader, self-abuse, venereal diseases badly cured, and sexual excesses, are all capable of pro ducing a weakness »f the generative organs. The organs of generation, when in perfect health, make th man. Did you ever think that those bold, de fiant, energetic, persevering, successful business men are always those whose generative organs are in perfect health ? You never hear such men com plain of being melancholy, of nervousness, ot pal pitation of the heart. They are never afraid they cannot succeed in business; they don’t become sad and discouraged; they are always polite and pleas ant in the company of ladies, and look you and them right in the face—none of vour downcast looks «r any other meanness about them. I do not mean “those who keep the organs inflated by running to excess. These will not only ruin their constitutions, but also those they do business with or for. How many men, from badly cured diseases, from the effects of self-abuse and excesses, hi ve brought about that state of weakness in those organs that has reduced the general system so much as to in duce almost every other disease—idiocy, lunacy, paralysis, spinal affections, suicide, and almost every’’ other form of disease which humanity is heir to, and the real cause of the trouble scarcely ever suspected, and have doctored for all but the right one. , . _• Diseases of these organs require the use ot a Diu retic. Allow me to call your attention to my PREPAR ATION OF COMPOUND EXTRACT BUCHU. The component parts are BUCHU, Long Leaf, CUBEBS, JUNIPER BERRIES. Mode of Preparation.—Buchu, in vacuo. Juniper Berries, by distillation, to form a line gin. Cubebs extracted by displacment with spirits ob tained from Juniper Berries; very little sugar is used, and a small proportion of spirit. It is more palatable than any now In use. Buchu, as prepared by Druggists, is of a dark color. It is a plant that emits its fragrance; the action of aflame destroys thfs (its active principle), leaving a dark and glutinous decoction. Mine is the color ot ingredients. The Buchu in my prepar ation predominates; the smallest quantity ol'the other ingredients are added, to prevent fermenta tion; upon inspection, it will he found not to be a Tincture, as made in Phannacopoea, nor is it a Syrup—and therefore can be used in cases where lever or inflammation exists. In this, you have the knowledge of the ingredient* ami the mode of pre partition. Hoping that you will favor it with a trial, am that upon inspection it will meet with your appro bation.
